Properties in Stage-Structured Population Models with Deterministic and Stochastic Resource Growth

چکیده

Modelling population dynamics in ecological systems reveals properties that are difficult to find by empirical means, such as the probability a will go extinct when it is exposed harvesting. To study these properties, we use an aquatic system containing one fish species and underlying resource our models. In particular, class of stage-structured with without starvation. models, resilience, recovery potential, extinction show how affected different harvesting rates, both deterministic stochastic setting. setting, develop methods for deriving estimates properties. We estimate expected outcome emergent well measures dispersion. two approaches estimating developed. also construct method determine potential introduced virgin environment.

Deterministic versus Stochastic Aspects of Superexponential Population Growth Models

Deterministic population growth models with power-law rates can exhibit a large variety of growth behaviors, ranging from algebraic, exponential to hyperexponential (finite time explosion). In this setup, selfsimilarity considerations play a key role, together with two time substitutions. Two stochastic versions of such models are investigated, showing a much richer variety of behaviors. One is...

Which future for the French Pyrenean brown bear (Ursus arctos) population? An approach using stage-structured deterministic and stochastic models.

The Pyrenean brown bear (Ursus arctos) population is considered as one of the most seriously threatened with extinction in Western Europe. To assess its viability and possible needs of augmentation, we develop deterministic and stochastic stage-structured demographic models. The deterministic model reveals that a bear population cannot have a high annual growth rate and is particularly sensitiv...

Extinction Criteria in Stage-Structured Population Models with Impulsive Culling

We propose stage-structured population models for species whose adult members are subject to culling, with a view to understanding the culling regimes that are likely to result in eradication of the species. A purely time-dependent model is proposed in which culling occurs at particular discrete times, not necessarily equally spaced. Then a reaction-diffusion model is proposed for a situation i...

Stochastic models in population biology and their deterministic analogs.

We introduce a class of stochastic population models based on "patch dynamics." The size of the patch may be varied, and this allows one to quantify the departures of these stochastic models from various mean-field theories, which are generally valid as the patch size becomes very large. These models may be used to formulate a broad range of biological processes in both spatial and nonspatial c...

Dynamics of Stage-structured Population Models with Harvesting Pulses

In most models of population dynamics, changes in population due to birth or harvesting are assumed to be time-independent, but many species reproduce or are caught only during a single period of the year. In this paper a single species stage-structured model with density-dependent maturation rate, birth pulse and harvesting pulse is formulated. Using the discrete dynamical system determined by...
